Dracaena sanderiana, commonly known as Lucky Bamboo, is a resilient, slow-growing perennial herb native to Central Africa. Despite its bamboo-like segmented stalks, it belongs to the Asparagaceae family and is completely unrelated to true bamboo. This plant features slender, glossy, grey-green leaves and is a staple in indoor environments due to its clean architectural appearance and long-standing association with positive Feng Shui
Essential Care Guidelines

Lucky Bamboo is widely celebrated for being extremely low-maintenance, thriving both in pure water and well-draining indoor potting mixes.
  • Light Requirements: Thrives best in bright, indirect sunlight. Direct sun will easily scorch and bleach the leaves, while deep shade will cause its growth to stall.
  • Watering Culture:
    • In Water: Keep the roots and the base of the cane submerged under 3–5 cm of water. Change the water every 1 to 2 weeks to prevent bacterial buildup and algae growth.
    • In Soil: Use a loose, free-draining potting mix. Water once the top 2–3 cm of soil feels entirely dry to the touch.
  • Water Quality: Highly sensitive to chlorine and fluoride commonly found in tap water, which triggers unsightly leaf-tip burn. Use distilled water, purified water, or rainwater whenever possible.
  • Temperature: Prefers warm indoor climates between 65°F and 90°F (18°C–32°C). Protect it from sudden cold drafts or direct placement near HVAC vents.
  • Toxicity: It contains saponins and is toxic to both cats and dogs if chewed or swallowed, causing vomiting and irritation.
